[ It starts with a blank screen and cheerful booping that anyone who has met BB-8 will recognize, with muffled conversation in the background.

BB-8 is working on something. The screen flickers from blackness to brief color, goes dark again, then abruptly displays the following image: ]



[ Yes, it is Poe Dameron, standing nobly above a motif of X-wings, over the word "RESISTANCE" and below the words "WATCHING OVER THE SKIES AND STARS."

The background conversation stops. Poe's voice comes through clearly: ] Bee, what are you--BB-8, take that down right now.

[ Annnnnd the image vanishes. ]

[ He pouts, a little exaggeratedly. ]

I think you look cool. Can't say I'd mind getting my hands on one of those, but... you let me take a picture with you so I can add it to my album and I'll let it go.

Because I like what little dignity I've got.

[ Your pout does not move him, Jim!!! ]

I look ridiculous. I'd rather take a picture.

[ Even if photos are weird and static. ]

I was not aware that appreciating your own looks means you have no dignity. You know I could take that as an insult, right?

[ Because, as Poe is likely aware of at this point, Jim does appreciate his own looks very much. ]

You look great, you're just self-conscious about it. Your friend did you justice, trust me.

[volitaunt]

[ There it is again. Poe ducks his head, uncomfortable. A mutter: ] Maybe.

[ His looks. They don't matter. They have no utility, they serve no purpose. It's frustrating and embarrassing to be so consistently reminded of something that makes no difference in the fight.

Spoilers Kirk your First Officer has Pretty Obvious Priorities and they all center around how to do his job. ]

[ His previous First Officer was Spock so really, what else is new.

The thing is, one doesn't invalidate the other. Poe being pretty doesn't change the fact that he's reliable and competent, and it certainly doesn't change the way Jim trusts him to do his job. It's not like he has to choose one or the other.

Or maybe Jim's just too vain. Not that he'll stop either way. He likes knowing he's attractive, and he makes sure to always look his best, no matter what. ]

Seems like I won't change your mind. [ His lips curl a little, but he figures it's for the best that he just lets it go. ] I still hope you won't throw them away, but we should take some pictures together anyway. You know, for posterity. [ Maybe include the rest of the shuttle crew, why not. ]

[volitaunt]

I won't throw them away.

[ Poe picks one of the little cubes up, rolling it between his fingers without turning it on. ] Wouldn't want to hurt Yolo's feelings if he shows up.

[ And That Is The Only Reason. ] You want good looking--why don't I drag Cassian along? Hell, let's get the whole crew.

[ Great minds??? ]

That would make for quite the picture. Although I'm not sure my camera could handle all those good-looking people together in the same picture. [ Himself included obviously. ]
