[ It starts with a blank screen and cheerful booping that anyone who has met BB-8 will recognize, with muffled conversation in the background.

BB-8 is working on something. The screen flickers from blackness to brief color, goes dark again, then abruptly displays the following image: ]



[ Yes, it is Poe Dameron, standing nobly above a motif of X-wings, over the word "RESISTANCE" and below the words "WATCHING OVER THE SKIES AND STARS."

The background conversation stops. Poe's voice comes through clearly: ] Bee, what are you--BB-8, take that down right now.

[ Annnnnd the image vanishes. ]

[ There's just like, three seconds of Poe staring at him with a look of "why do you do this." ]

Ah, a shame. I would have liked a copy of that for myself.

[ He's still grinning. It's not often someone dumps such great ammunition right in his lap. However, he'll keep it in reserve for later, when the embarrassment isn't quite so fresh. ]

But if I may, I assume that poster isn't all propaganda and you really are a soldier, yourself. Am I right?

[ He sighs out a small laugh. At least there's a question he can answer that doesn't have to do with the poster itself. ] Yeah. Wing Commander of the Resistance Starfighter Corps.

Quite the title. Does the fighting still continue in your home?

[volitaunt]

[ A pause. ]

Yeah. Yeah it does.

[verflair]

I am sorry to hear that. [ The look on his face says he can relate somewhat. ] It must not be easy for you to be here.

[volitaunt]

No. [ It's maddening. It drives him crazy when he's not keeping himself immediately busy. It's awful. ] But I'm not here alone, so that helps.

Aye, friends can be a balm in situations like these.

For whatever it may be worth, I am an old resistance fighter myself. My fight has ended, but I am always willing to lend an ear should you have need of one.

[volitaunt]

[ My fight has ended. Those words could mean so many things. We won, we lost, I died.

But the invitation is touching. (It's another small tether to this moon and its people, people Poe already cares about more than he realizes.) ]
