[ On camera, Tear can be seen sitting against her bed with the lens from a distance, as if she's asking a question. She's not sure about the etiquette of face-to-face communication, so she looks... too serious. Laughably too serious to be coming on here and sitting with you like she's about to divorce you or is in a face to face interview. ]

Hello. My name is Tear Grants. If anyone should recognize it-- contact me.

[ It almost sounds like she's going to beat the hell out of whoever does. ]

I'm new here. I was in the hospital for a little while and I've been cured of-- an illness. Anyway, I've been assigned to Search and Rescue. I'm... in a communal dorm it seems.

I'm aware of the responsibility of one to take care of their own information-gathering, however--

[ Immediately she sits up when she hears a bark outside the window. Rushing over to the side, past her roommate's empty bed, she opens the curtains and sees a dog from the festival walking down the road in an adorable costume. ]

Oh my gosh....

[ She's forgotten the camera doesn't turn off by itself when you leave it alone, it seems. ]

[He frowns, thinking about that, and nods.]

I prefer cats to most people, so. [He reaches out and dangles his fingers for one of the other kittens to play with.] Osomatsu probably mentioned we're sextuplets, I was thinking about naming the kittens after our other three brothers... But the calico is a girl, and I think any of them would be mad if I named a girl cat after them. [But he might name her after Totty, anyway.]

Calicos are always girls, right? ... or very rarely have boys?

[ Someone probably entertained herself learning about cat breeds as a young child. ]

... I'm sure they'd be honored to be a part of the family.

I think just about always, yeah. The chromosomes for coat color are carried in the X chromosome, which also designates female sex.

[Not to worry, this is an easy conversation topic for Ichimatsu. He laughs softly.]

I'm not so sure. We're pretty lame, and moreso to each other than anything else.

I'm envious. I always wanted more siblings... or something like that. It's complicated with my brother.

[ or like a family that's not genocidal ]

Do you have a favorite? I could never choose... [ It'd be like choosing a favorite child ]

[He brings his hand back to fold around his knees again, pillowing his cheek on one knee.]

...family is hard, sometimes. [But he wouldn't trade the shitheads for the world.]

[He blinks, confused for a moment and thinking she's asking if he has a favorite brother, and then realizing she means the kittens, and squints in thought at them.]

They're too young to have really shown their personalities yet. I have an adult cat, too, he's back at the house, we've... Been through a lot together. [Nyanko is his Son.]

... You know? It really is.

[ She has a Vanmatsu and it's considerably less fun. ]

That's true... you'd want to give them a name that'd fit. I'm not very good at them... like, Clover. For the good luck? [ She chuckles. ] See?

-- [ She stops when she mentions the other cat. ] Is he your childhood pet?

[Ichimatsu might argue he's just mad because "Vandasdelca" is a really dumb name, but he also wouldn't want to be rude. At least "Mystearica" is pretty. Vandesdelca just sounds like the name of a monster truck.]

[His eyes scrunch closed in a smile she can't see his mouth for, and he shakes his head.]

Clover is a good name. My-- sort of? He's been around for a while. I fed a lot of strays, back home, and he... Just stuck around. If it helps at all, though... We call him ESP Nyanko, for a... really weird reason, so I'm not great at names, either.

'ESP Nyanko' is cute. That means it's just fine.

[ Tear, you have a weird definition of cute... ]

You should meet Mieu. He's not quite a cat, but he's...

[He doesn't quite frown, but his expression shifts barely enough to be noticed.]

You like cute things, I take it.

"Mieu"? Sounds like a cat, but in... French, or something.

He's a cheagle. He talks because he wears a magic ring, and-- makes kind of like cat noises, and has big puffy ears. I'm going to miss him.

[nyahilistic]

Che...agle, huh. Never heard of it.

[A beat.]

...Nyanko talks because he took a weird needle in the ass for me. [This sounds about as lame as it is.]

I-- wh-- how.

[nyahilistic]

[He pinches the bridge of his nose.]

I'm terrified of needles. A series of unfortunate events lead to a crazy professor in our city aiming to give me a shot so I could understand the feelings of animals, and... he got in the way. So... now he speaks truths if people lie.

[mystearious]

...That's so cute. He even has a little superpower...

[ REGARDLESS OF HOW HE GOT IT-- for some reason, that 'crazy professor' line reminds her of Jade chasing down Luke and accidentally poking Mieu instead. ]

I'd love to meet all cats.

[ cough ]

All of your cats.

[...Tear, how are you real. Honestly, Dekapan and Jade are on similar levels of crazy, just on opposite personality spectrums. He balks at her, and then chuffs softly.]

It's just these three, and Nyanko. So I think that can be arranged. [And maybe he'll name one of the kittens Clover.]

I'd love that. Thank you.

[ Because when you're going to be in quarantine for 5 years, what else are you going to do anyway? Plus, there's a bit of freedom in not having any of her companions here yet-- no one to have to harden her facade around.

... anyway she just. Keeps playing with the kittens, like petting them is the greatest gift in the world. She nearly dies when one flops on its side to offer its belly as a hand trap. ]

[There's an odd snorting sound coming from somewhere in the back of his throat as he focuses back on the kittens-- It's like he's only just registered that he's easily having a conversation with a cute girl. Maybe it's because it's surrounding cats. He fusses for a minute, scoops one of the kittens gently and lets it bat at and chew on his fingers.]

...ah, yeah.

[ She doesn't even register that-- Tear has never thought of herself as cute, just like... average? At the most, serious? But she's having a fun time hanging out with this nice guy who takes care of four lovely cats! This is the best possible thing she could hope for right now... instead of thinking about, you know, Akzeriuth. ]

Tell me more about yourself. If you want to, that is--

[Even if he's significantly quieter about it (as he is about most things) than his brothers, Ichimatsu has decidedly noticed Tear's rather sizeable.. assets, and it's pulling his shoulders taught like the string of a bow. He hides it well enough by focusing on the kitten chewing on his fingers-- the black one --and keeping his eyes trained at her knees and nothing else. If he were Karamatsu, he'd have scared her off already talking about something or another, but he mostly noticed what was immediately obvious (her chest, naturally, but maybe less expectedly, that her hair looked very soft) in a delayed way that made continuing the conversation with any degree of grace difficult.]

Ah, mmn, sure, I...'m not sure why you'd want to know, and there isn't much to tell, but... I'm guessing Osomatsu at least mentioned we're sextuplets.

I'm sure there's plenty to tell-- after all, just being sextuplets doesn't mean you're all identical. You're already very different from Osomatsu. [ a smile ]

[Another odd, gurgling snort of a sound in the back of his throat and he ducks forward toward the kitten slightly. He almost scoots sideways and actually bashes his head on the ground out of reflex, but it's mostly because he's afraid he'd hurt the kitten that he doesn't more than any actual social grace that Tear would be fucking startled.]

Visually, for the most part, we are. I'm quiet and don't like people much, Osomatsu likes people too much, but not as much as beer... I guess I like plants pretty well, too? I'm building a greenhouse on our roof.

[ god DAMN ichimatsu it's okay we're conversing everything will be fine. She otherwise doesn't take much notice of his lack of social grace, after all-- Tear prefers her privacy too. Gingerly, she picks up a kitten and is absolutely downright marveled that she's holding one. You can see it right on her face. ]

That makes two of us. The quiet part, I mean. And gardening is a good hobby to have-- we're supposed to be building, aren't we?

[ baby cat baby cat baby cat tho, she nearly peeps when it rolls over in her hand and exposes its tummy. ]

I'm a soldier, so I didn't even have time for hobbies... aside from singing, I suppose.

[Nothing is ever fine, you're a pretty girl and you're talking to him, nothing is fine. He looks up at her when she marvels over the kitten and fucking RIP, she's really cute. He doesn't look at her very long, averting his eyes again and carefully sitting up, scooping his own kitten. The third one can't seem to decide which one of them he wants to climb on, scooting toward Ichimatsu and then toward Tear and back in indecision.]

[His expression falters from its deadpan for a moment and he looks up at her, frowning and tilting his head.]

...you're a solider? [What is it with him and befriending military folks.]

[RIP again, she sings. A part of him wants to ask to hear, but he would probably never actually manage the sentence. Not for a long time, at least.]

Locrian Sergeant Tear Grants, at your service. Though admittedly, the military I serve under and I don't see each other eye to eye...

[ Tear feels like she might faint, so she lets the kitten go to play with its sibling. They're both totally overwhelmed at this point. Now Tear will constantly be thinking about how cute kittens are to hold... she's never held one before, just a cat or two. ]

Things were going down south back there. That must have been when I... wished to be somewhere else? Is that what they call it?

[He mouths "Locrian Sergeant Tear Grants" a few times, as though sounding out the words a few times before speaking them.]

Locrian Sergeant. I'm no military expert, but I've never heard of... isn't Locrian a musical term? [That would explain the singing. Military singing? What a combination.]

[He frowns, nodding after a moment's thought.] Something about feeling misplaced, I guess.
