{ Vincent is taking a brisk walk - exercise is good for the mind and body, you know - looking less like the dapper British gent than usual. Modernity is creeping up on him and he is just the sort to embrace it, bit by bit. }

It really is a shame servants can't be employed here - or am I wrong? Is it more a question of price? I can understand wanting to be well-compensated. I always thought I was an easy Master -

There is nothing wrong with living an exciting life. { What are you even trying to say, Vincent. } I don't think I've ever lived so peacefully or so...independently. I'm afraid it's going to my head.

Yes. Yes, he is. He's still young enough though that learning to live without servants and a mansion is easy. He's also lived through situations in which he had neither.]

Besides, our home isn't large enough to accommodate servants.

Manage, yes, but what about excelling? { Be a spoiled brat; it's fun! Vincent can live on the streets if he has to - he is terribly charming - but why? This life is better, surely. }

It's always been obvious that I wasn't as outgoing as him. We've only ever looked the same.

Sounds like a normal day for her! { He tries to sound bright and easy, but that's even beyond him. } You have to focus on yourself. She gives orders, you follow them as best as you can, but never lose sight of your safety. If it feels like a trap, run.

Only one of us really mattered. And it wasn't the sickly child, too weak for the Watchdog's duties.

When did the two of us ever fight? Even knowing I was just... his spare, I never took anything out on him. It hardly mattered in the end though.

He was more like me. He might have turned on you. { Loyalty was decided very oddly for them and if there was an upset, nothing was a given. } As long as you weren't competition, he was enthusiastic to protect you.

He hated to be alone or to risk losing me. He wouldn't have. [He can say that, at least, with absolute certainty.]

When a dog smells blood, what do they do? { Weaknesses like brotherly love are dangerous. } If you had threatened his position, it might have been different. I didn't want to risk putting you - my sons - in such a position.

Depends on the dog. [Sharks might have been the better analogy.]

I think you might have underestimated how close we were or his devotion to me. He would never have hurt me.
