Hello, everyone.

I don't really know if anyone is celebrating Halloween next month, but if you are then please let me know. I'd especially be interested in helping out if anyone wants to work on a haunted house. I think it's great there's a holiday that celebrates things that are common in my world, and I want to be a part of it.

I basically only play covers. I don't write music or anything. It's just a hobby.

You looking for a whole band?

I'm sure that's not true.

That's fine. That's exactly what I want.

I don't know. The only instrument I know how to play is a violin, and that doesn't really go with James's music.

You're setting the standard way too high. Used to be you'd get a pat on the back for buying flowers or remembering an important date. Now a guy has to record his own mix-tape to compete. Screw you, Victor.

From what I understand, the haunted houses people make have more than just ghosts. Is that right?

Oh yeah, any assortment of gross things, monsters and jump scares. When I did a story for PNWS I was given a statistic that the average decent size haunt in American uses something like five hundred gallons of fake blood a weekend.

Huh. That's... not really what I had in mind. I mean, the monsters and ghosts of course, but not that other stuff.

Yeah, and honestly, I don't think you really need it. It's more fun to be scared when it's not the gross out sort of scared. Hence the helping with ghost faking stuff.

You're referring to the Earthen festival of the dead, are you not? Or...the night on which supposedly the veil between the world of spirits and that of mortals is said to be thinnest?

There are lots of festivals of the dead. I think Halloween is a mesh of traditions. Bu yes, one of the traditions says that the veil between the lands of the living and dead is thin that night.

And this is celebrated? Granted, as a necromancer, I can see the allure. What better time to study the spirits of the dead than when they're so easily accessible?

In my home world it didn't really matter, but if it is easier here, then why not take advantage?

Oh, definitely. I haven't really done anything like this before. Might be fun.

I assume this haunted house won't actually be haunted, but rather theatrical in nature? I may be able to lend a hand.

Have you got a theme in mind yet? Any suggestions so far?

I'm scoping out a few places that should be big enough.

I was just thinking to model it after home. I pretty much lived in a Universal monster movie, you know.

That sounds like a brilliant idea, though. So are you thinking monsters, cursed ghost family, something else...?

It'll depend on how many rooms there are to use, but yes, we are definitely having monsters and ghosts. And some ambient lighting and noises, obviously. Should we get a fog machine?

It's a holiday that sort of meshes a lot of traditions together, all around celebrating the supernatural or witchcraft.

I need some help building a few of the rooms. You offering?

Never heard of anything like it. So by withcraft, you mean magic?

Depends on what you need. I'm better at putting mechanical things together, or repairing them.

Sometimes. It depends on the tradition. It's why things like wearing masks started happening, to hide from evil spirits.

Mechanical things would be great. That can work with things opening or moving on their own.

Funny, where I'm from, they're more used for protection, to hide an identity, or to imitate someone.
