[ when the feed clicks on, it looks as if Tony hasn't seen his actual skin in about thirty six hours (or a bed for that long, at that, but what else is new?). there is grease smeared more of less everywhere and his hair looks like it was styled using a fork and an electrical sock, but he is grinning and looks very pleased with life as he addresses the network.]
So, since the incident that happened a few months ago involving monsters and other bullshit, I have been trying to put together a defense system for the Quarantine that would act as a primary system to both alerting us about any predators that might get too close, as well as perhaps even as a system that can be used to stun said things for easier removal deeper into the forest. [ look, Loki, he is thinking this time.]
I have come up with a prototype, [ he moves slightly to gesture over his shoulder and, if you are looking close enough you might see a turret shape amidst all the chaos in his workshop, wearing a ridiculous red, blue, and white crown but whatever ] named it Cake so far, but-- well I know that I am not the only engineer here and I think that help would be greatly appreciated.
[ sure he is sure enough that he knows this will work, but it has taken him the better part of two months to get Cake here to the point where he was confident in its build and coding. and the Quarantine will need more than one for this to work.]
Basically, what I am asking for is anyone with any background in coding, or mechanical engineering to help out in the construction and streamlining of these defensive turrets; I have coding done, but more eyes the better. I have also managed to test it out a few time with the help of some friends, but-- I know you can never be too careful.
[ is he a little rueful there? maybe.]
Anyone that might be able to help, I would be very grateful. Swing by the perimeter defense office if you can to let me know.
[ he moves as if to turn the feed off before:]
Oh, and happy birthday Steve.
[ then, with a wink, the feed is shut off]

Okay, but what happens when there is no cake?

Then it is a lie, but that was kind of the point in naming it honestly.

Why's it named Cake?

Uh, because it clearly isn't cake. Which means that cake is a lie.

I can do a bit of coding if need be.
But Cake? Really?

And that would be great, think you can tolerate the mess that is my office to come help? Or should I bring the coding to you? :P

Won't pretend to be able to offer any technical expertise, but would you have any interest in input on the habits and patterns of monsters?
no subject
there is the sound of shifting metal before--]
That would be fucking fantastic, actually. Anything that can help, the different species, how they work. Anything that can be fed into the program as information.

What do you need?
no subject
well, at least that Tony has seen.
there is a beat before he sends off an attachment with most (not all) of the turret coding. encrypted to hell and back, but if you are him you will get it open in at least an hour.]
Here is what I have so far, but I need more hands and like I said, the more eyes on this the better. The plan is to have a fully functioning defense system so we don't have to worry about the things that are out there in the woods wandering in here and using civilians as a snack. If you want, you can swing by the workshop and see what I have so far? Or...
[ he shrugs, he doesn't really want you in his space, but for the greater good he will deal with his self loathing a little quieter. ] Just look at what I sent you.
[ there is a pause, then:]
You didn't happen to bring Jocosta or Friday through with you? I have the basics for the suit and my programming, but...
[ not a fully functioning AI, and he hasn't been able to bring himself to remake one from the scraps of coding yet. ]

{Tim rubs the back of his head.}
I'm not sure I'm entirely up to speed with this place's technology, but I've got pretty decent backgrounds in both mechanical engineering and coding from home.

Tony blinks a few times before answering.]
Uh, I would like to think that we are friends yes. And you know Bucky how?
[ let him process the rest because... pop up shield? that sounds vaguely familiar. however, you are now also speaking his language.]
You should swing by here, see what you can make of some of the things that I have going on. And perhaps I can help bring you up to speed with things.

god damnit, Doom.]
First off, my turret, my names so hush. Second.... when more of this is done, integrating magic and magical defenses might be a good idea. Loki is helping already, so I will ask him if he would like the help.

Why cake? I would have named it cupcake, if you're going for a dessert-slash-confection theme.
But, I might be able to help, if you still need more eyes.

well, sooner than later.]
Mmm, Portal joke. I mean, I want it to fire cupcakes to be really annoying, but the icing likes to clog up the circuitry.
[ there is a pause, while Tony weighs his words. not that he doesn't trust you but-- well he doesn't know you and , well, whatever--]
If you want to swing by the office then, maybe you can take a look. If you have time.

I might have something that can be useful for this project of yours. I led a group on a mission beyond the walls and retrieved some research that a team of scientists were working on.
[ He pauses. ] I'd rather talk about it in person, though, if you don't mind. It'd be easier to explain what we've figured out so far.
Re: video; un: kirk
That sounds incredibly promising actually, even if a little ominous. I would be more than willing to meet up though and go over a few things.
[ he rubs a smear of grease on his cheek. ] Uh, maybe later in the week? Would you be free then?
