[ simple text, straightforward and easy: ]

What are the birthday traditions on your home planets?

[ jyn hasn't celebrated a birthday in something like... fifteen years so to say she's out of practice would be a gross understatement. she tells herself this is cultural anthropology, her mother would be proud. TIME TO LEARN, time to attempt to live like a normal human being... ]

Wouldn't know. It was another day.

But, I heard in some place cake is involved.

Traditionally, you start to forget about it after your 500th birthday and then everyone else forgets as well.

I was given a very powerful weapon and told to use it wisely.

Do they like weapons? We might be onto something.

[ They can do something low key...and it doesn’t have to involve a birthday celebration if Jyn doesn’t want it to. ]

Do you want cake? They make them in chocolate flavors.

Or just have chocolate.

[ Rey opts to make the message private.]

Anything Taako makes is amazing, but you hold onto it. Thanks though.

So why the question about birthday’s?

Normally back home it's a fair amount of drinking, some sort of party or celebration and cake or whatever you'd like.

My partner goes drinking.

I think it's a birthday gift when he manages to win a bar fight.

Depends on the age and the culture. I say celebrate it however you want, or don't celebrate it at all.

A few presents from your loved ones. Maybe a slice of cake, but what's more important is being good the whole year. You don't make friends who'd celebrate with you if you're an ass.

Like I said, it depends. Some people throw big parties and some people are more simple. Growing up, mine was more the big party tradition. I didn't really like it that much.

No one also spills all the details of their life, either. Just good enough works.

Since when?

But...you get used to staying in one place. Though, I do miss flying.

Yeah. There's a lot of us here from earth and the same time period so it makes sense.

So, when's your birthday?

I'm afraid he'd have to be around for that.

And I'm not sure that's something I want to encourage.

It's dependant on the person.

In some cases, religion, personal preference or family traditions play a deciding factor. Other times it can be dictated by those around you or what is currently the societal norm.

Yourself?
