What are the birthday traditions on your home planets?

Normally back home it's a fair amount of drinking, some sort of party or celebration and cake or whatever you'd like.

A few presents from your loved ones. Maybe a slice of cake, but what's more important is being good the whole year. You don't make friends who'd celebrate with you if you're an ass.

It's dependant on the person.

In some cases, religion, personal preference or family traditions play a deciding factor. Other times it can be dictated by those around you or what is currently the societal norm.

I didn't stay on planets very long usually, not long enough to adapt to birthday traditions. I did witness a few from afar.

There's a tradition on one planet that the person whose birthday it is buys everyone in the bar a round of drinks. That might have been the owners way to get more credits but I never saw anyone complain.

Where I come from, people usually throw a birthday party. There's food, cake, drinks sometimes. It really depends on how old you are or what you're into. For instance, some people just get together with friends and go out for drinks. And there's the gift-giving, of course.

traditionally, the whole family would be invited and there would be a lot of dancing and music. people would decorate the birthday person's house with flowers. everyone would bring gifts of food and all eat a spread of various dishes. the traditional birthday cake has cardamom and rose flavors.

my birthday was a bit different than others', though.

Why is your birthday different?

My birthday was close to Christmas so we always had a tree decorated. Our presents were under the tree, decorations everywhere, no lessons that day. All the servants wished us a happy birthday and the people who lived on the estate.

We'd have supper, all of us together, and cake. If it wasn't too cold out then, we'd watch the meteor shower.
