[ Two very green eyes (wide, without their usual cunning gleam) stare into the camera when the recording goes live, glancing up to the username that appears. Reading it, he mutters 'Loki of Asgard' and frowns, glancing around himself as though somebody else may spring up and claim the phone. When they don't, Loki runs an anxious hand through his hair and lets out a controlled sigh at length, standing awkwardly in his tee and jeans in the Floor Five lounge. ]

This phone I woke up with in my pocket is locked and it won't let me do more than make an emergency call. I know I'm on a moon for some reason, what the fuck, so if this is the local nine-one-one line I'd like some assistance, please.

[ 'Calm under strain' would be an apt description. ]

Such as, ah ... What's Asgard? And, how did I just freeze my bed solid? Because I totally did. [ In a panic when he woke up bewildered, oops. ] I — I'm not sure what to do.

( ooc: forward-dating this to tomorrow bc i work full-time and won't be around; loki is suffering a near-complete memory loss for the event. he doesn't remember who he is, his fam & friends, that he is magic as heck, how to use said magic, or his extensive horrid history. all he knows is that he agreed to come to a moon and once had an apartment in manhattan. )

I don't see why I can't be a deity of bacon or coffee, or freshly ironed shirts or new socks. Those seem way more important.

[ Maybe he just wants to fight everything he's being told by the masses, purely to be contrary. Ironically very Loki-like in the process. ]

Dunno, the mischief part is at least mostly benign, right? Lies, well... I don't know.

[ He says it with all the conviction of not knowing whether he is, yet determined to have some faith even if no one else does. ]

[ Later, he will be so embarrassed by the naivete of this talk. ]

[ he pauses, looking down at Loki, something far away in his gaze.]

But you have been. Before here. Like I said, god of lies, god of evil. Not everyone will grant you a fresh start. Not until you prove it.

[ Heated as the argument is, he spreads his free hand. ]

I don't care what happened before here, I don't remember anything beyond when I woke up today. I won't grovel for a fresh start that I don't need.

There is a philosophical argument in there, that a person is only responsible for what he remembers doing, but-- that isn't a conversation for now.

[ there is a sigh as he reaches for the extended arm, using it to pull Loki in front of Tony before he runs his hands through his hair. ]

We usually ignore this argument, what with me being a hero that has had to stop you more than once in the past, but I can tell you right now that, what you just said? Is usually your argument either way.

[ The hands in his hair keep him in place although he has the choice to leave. He doesn't, barking out a laugh instead. ]

Then maybe I'm right and you're tone deaf because I have to keep repeating it, Anthony.

Mmm, no, I am just really good at ignoring shit that will start a fight that neither of us is going to win. Especially not now. [ he says it very matter-of-factly before pressing a kiss to Loki's forehead and stepping back.]

Now, pizza. Then pasta because apparently, that is what Freyja loves to eat, though maybe she would enjoy pizza, I can't recall you ever telling me if she ate that...

You're angry and deflecting. I have no idea what you're mad about, not beyond being told I'm kind of awful and never accept responsibility for anything, so whatever. Pizza, sure.

[ Still the same sharp mind from before, he shrugs off any ire. It's a tiring day and he doesn't want to fight either. ]

I am not angry at all, Lokes. And I didn't say you're a horrible person, just not everyone sees it that way. [ seriously, this is why they don't talk about it.

he cups Loki's jaw and raises an eyebrow. a Loki is still Loki no matter what it seems.

with a huff and a small smile he uses his grip on the god to pull him more or less toppling into his chest. ]

Stop it, okay. That is shit you don't deal with until you have to.

I don't care about everyone.

[ One of the most honest statements he would even make as himself, prior to today. He stumbles forward, catching himself on Tony's arms. ]

What makes you a hero, Anthony?

No... no you never have either.

[ Tony looks fond at that and then shrugs at the question.]

Honestly, I don't think I am much of a hero. Just-- I do what I can to help others, to help those on Earth. That doesn't-- I'm not-- [ he stops, sighs into Loki's hair before starting to move again, still wrapped up. ] I don't have an answer for that.

It sounds like one.

[ A selfless hero trying his hardest against the odds, how noble-hearted. Loki again wonders how he captured Tony's affections because he isn't so generous, he's sure. ]

I want to be heroic like that, too. If I never recall who I was, can I choose my own way? And my own name, too. Just Lokes.

[ Tony doesn't see it that way, sees the flaws and the mistakes that he has made and how he is constantly fucking shit up and how-- whatever. he is going to take this time to enjoy what he can.

despite the position they are in, Tony continues to walk awkwardly, faint smile on his face.]

Mmmm, even if you do recall who you are you can still choose your own way, that is always an option. But yeah, you can be Lokes.

Not according to everyone else. [ But screw that topic, he's tired of debating the fact he isn't evil or a god or generally pigeonholed. ] Where's my pizza? This is an awfully long walk to get carbs.

[ He sticks close to Tony, all but holding him tight with an arm around his waist and their steps in time. ]

Three whole months and no engagement ring, I'm still scandalised. Will settle for bacon and pepperoni, though.

[ there is more to be said on that topic, it is a debate that Tony tries to avoid more often than not but, until Loki crosses a line, Tony is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. from what he has seen here, Loki has changed. ]

Mmm, well we are walking a bit slow you know.

[ not that he makes any move to disengage. ] I feel like if I were to propose to you you would demand bacon instead of a ring anyway, so... bacon and pepperoni it is.

[ as they are walking, Tony manages to fish out his phone though and makes a call to where they are headed because he can. and orders three extra large pizzas for now. ] There, now it should be on the table by the time we get there, does that make it better?

... You are the most romantic man I have ever met, and granted I've only met about five but even so.

[ He stops them on the sidewalk to run his fingertips along a stubbled jawline, leaning over (after a moment spent inwardly fretting) to plant a chaste kiss on Tony's lips. ]

Good boyfriend. Keep it up.

That--- I think that was almost an insult actually.

[ but he is smiling into the kiss, pleased that Loki is the one that made the move. with a squeeze of Loki's waist, he begins to walk again. ]

Mmm, I will certainly try, though I feel it's almost too easy if all it takes is pizza and bacon...

I'm not a complicated creature, wherever did you get that idea? Somewhere between the godly nonsense and magical abilities?

[ Walking along, he slips out his phone and hands it over. In his right mind there is no one he would trust with so treasured a possession but, with no memory of what lies in it, Loki is keen to simply open it. ]

You mentioned you liked technology. This is locked, [ encrypted up the wazoo, ] perhaps you could gain access for me?

.... no, I got the complicated bit from knowing you. There are more facets to your personality than you might think, Lokes. It's--- refreshing. If not a little bewildering once in a while.

[ as soon as the phone is in his hand, Tony blinks, stilling the forward movement. this... huh.]

Um, I love tech but-- honestly? I am a little afraid that trying to hack into your technology is going to leave me a frog for a few days. You are not beyond that, love. I can make you a new one for a while if you want? I mean, if you don't revert, I will unlock with but--

[ no really, he only half understands the spell coding you put in Cake, this is... yeah. ]

You're an overthinker. Life is simple. [ It's a cheerful naivete, at least.

If he was a fox his ears would droop. ]

Oh. I'll just keep trying then, I suppose. How hard can it be? It's just a phone.

[ of for the love of-- don't look at him like that!

Tony sighs and turns on the phone, giving Loki a look over the edge of it. ] Remember me fondly at least?

[ no really. he leans against Loki, elbows on the god's shoulders, and starts to tap at the phone, pulling open back doors and humming quietly.]

[ Pleased to have manipulated Tony into cooperating, he wraps his arms around him and walks backwards, steering them into the lip of an alley between buildings so that he can watch him work. He likes the way Tony's eyes are blue enough to resemble chips of the sky, even when distracted, and runs his hands into the dip of a narrow back. ]

Any luck?

[ Loki's Starkphone, as it turns out, after a few near misses with some nasty viruses that look like triggers to actual spells, yields the password: the number is easily swiped, four digits.

It's the day and month of Tony's birthday. ]

[ Tony barely notices that they are moving, focused on the phone and what information it might yield. the most notable thing to Tony is that Loki is far better at manipulating technology with magic than he ever really lets on. there is a lot here that Tony would use, could learn to pick apart and add to his own ideas and codes his feelings about magic aside.

there is a warmth against his spine, and Tony's lips curve into a smile automatically, even as his tips through a few more lines of code and --

oh.

the engineer stills beneath Loki's hands and -- shit. he blinks up to Loki and smiles, fingers typing in the numbers easily before holding it out.]

Yeah-- yeah I got it.

[ there is a flash of a something as he holds it out then, when Loki has his fingers busy with the phone, Tony cups his jaw gently and pulls him close, kissing him. it's not a shallow kiss, but nothing lurid either. it is caring, and really it is stupid, him being choked up because the fucking god picked his birthday but at the same time--]

I love you, okay. Whether you remember that or not, I really do, Lokes. [ the words are soft against Loki's lips, Tony's fingers carding through his hair around his ears as he presses their foreheads together. ]

[ Tony seems pleased (and a little surprised?) with how quickly he unravels the lock-code on the phone, which Loki finds charming when handed back the device to ferret around with. He doesn't get the chance, pulled into a kiss that suffuses his entire being with a shiver of delight and sends his arm with the phone curling around Tony's neck to draw him in.

Staring at Tony with a mix of bewilderment and fascination, his expression eases into a grateful, bashful flush when their foreheads meet and Tony's warm calloused hands frame their world, cutting out the unfamiliar so it is just them. ]

Okay.

[ It's a happy sigh, trusting the earnestness of that kiss and Tony's rampant affections. There has to be a deeper reason for that. And in the back of his mind's eye, Loki sees ... ]

Gold. [ Green eyes unfocus for a moment, fixating on Tony as he murmurs with the stirring of a memory. ] You were painted in gold, in the dark ...
