[ The camera catches a glimpse of Jim's face in his Perimeter Guard uniform, but only for the flicker of a second before there's a bump of some sort and the device is knocked down. Jim's surprised expression is the last thing to show before the only view for a few seconds is the ceiling. His voice can be heard from off camera. ]
John! Bad boy, bad.
[ There's a snout next, sniffing at the screen, then a tongue... then finally Jim reaches his phone and picks it up from the ground. He's grinning a little and shaking his head as he props it up on the table again and pulls away, dragging his new friend along with him so he's kept away from his device. ]
Sorry. That was... anyway. Captain James Kirk here, and this is John, the latest member of the aerial unit. [ He just wandered in one day and now Jim's keeping him, shut up. ] So— due to the latest rains and the most recent flooding near the river, a lot of people have found themselves temporarily displaced. I'm one of those people, but luckily me and my buddy here have a place to crash at the Perimeter Guard. We have plenty of beds and mattresses available here, for what it's worth, so anyone who finds themselves momentarily homeless, you'll be more than welcome here.
There should be other places we could use to offer people some shelter. The community centers come to mind, for instance. Gathering a few supplies would help though, so anyone willing to help and donate a few things, that would be great.
Additionally, I'll be making rounds on the shuttle, so anyone who needs a hand or absolutely must get somewhere out of bounds due to the flood, let me know.
And that's it! [ He smiles a little, nodding. ] Remember to keep safe. And if you don't need to be anywhere near it, stay away from the river. At least until the rain lets up and we manage to figure out where all this water's coming from.
(( ooc: this post is open to action for the following options: around the perimeter guard barracks, getting some rest, working, or helping other misplaced people out; near the river, aiding anyone in trouble and/or possibly fighting any of the monsters; a little all over the place on his shuttle, ready to jump in and get anyone out of a tough spot. ))

[a pause, and then] You doing okay?
[also, you proud of him for actually using his name for a UN?]
no subject
[ He shrugs. Also yes, he noticed the username, and he is very proud. ]
Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I always keep a few clothes and other things at the Perimeter Guard, for when I end up stuck at work or beyond the wall for longer than planned, so I'm covered.
How's things at the hospital so far?
no subject
Busy, and I'm going to see about using it as a shelter for misplaced people.

Oh so that's where John is. Can you tell him to stop by the store and pick up some eggos on his way home?
no subject
Will do. Actually he is very good at fetching. He's been a real help around the guard so far. We could actually try for grocery shopping and see how well he does.

... A bit, yeah.)
Hi, Jim. Gramarye could open up a couple lecture halls to accommodate any displacement; we can provide resources too, I'm sure. Are there a lot of people currently without homes?
(She'd been forced out of her apartment too, but thankfully she's got a place to stay lined up. She wants to make sure everybody else has that security too.)
no subject
Couple hundred give or take, from what I gathered so far. Most of them didn't suffer any damage to their homes, but their buildings are inaccessible due to the water levels. It's what happened with me, for instance.
I've been making rounds along the river helping people out, and telling those that can't get to their homes about the guard, since we still have a bit of room here. As it fills up I'll be mentioning other places. Like the hospital or Gramarye.

Should you have need of solitude, my office door is open and what creature comforts I own are at your disposal.
[ Literally no one ever visits ISA, the department has been seemingly surrounded by a Do Not Bother aura ever since Hux moved in. Still, Jim is the only person on this moon with an aircraft and moreover willing to take Hux out in it; keeping him sweet is important. The invite is not an empty one. ]
no subject
Really?
[ Jim raises an eyebrow, momentarily surprised. Hux hadn't been hostile towards him by any means, but he still struck him as an intensely private person. It seems like such a strange and unusual offer coming from him, particularly since he wouldn't say they're friends. Not yet, anyway.
But hey, if an opportunity's provided to him, he sure as hell will take it. For curiosity's sake, if nothing else. ]
Well— since you're offering. I'd like the company, actually. Can I come by right now?

[ Okay, but the most important question is:]
Can I come pet him?

[ His smile widens at the question, a little endeared. ]
Absolutely. He loves petting and cuddling a lot though, so fair warning. He might get a little clingy.

[Where's the fun in letting Tony do all the flying around here?]
no subject
[ People can fly through all sorts of means, after all. ]
I'll take whatever help I can get. Honestly I don't think anyone else is stranded anymore, but people still have important possessions or things they need to get from their homes. We can help with that.
Though right now I'm more focused on clearing the debris out of the water. It's washing everything down towards the Abandoned City, and taking everything in its path.

[Action]
Victor assured her that he wouldn't go anywhere, not if he could help it. Lucy clung to that like a lifeline. She didn't want to lose anyone else, but there was nothing she could do. Except....maybe one thing.
The rain wasn't coming down too hard, at least for now. Lucy was putting on her rain boots and coat when she saw a family of strange birds (porgs) waddling through. At first, she didn't think anything of it, until a few seconds later, a smaller bird was trying to catch up. Lucy's heart ached for the little bird and did what any other kid would've done--she followed it, putting her umbrella over the tiny creature to help keep it dry as it cried out for it's mama and siblings.
She thought she saw where the family went and did her best to guide the smaller chick to them, but the path she was following was taking her to the river. The tiny bird eventually grew tired and plopped into the mud, allowing Lucy a brief moment to pick it up. She cooed at it, trying to keep it calm until she heard a growl and the sound of footsteps coming closer to her.
Breaking through the sound of rain was her screaming and trying to run away from whatever was growling at her.]

Tonight was looking particularly harsh, with the rain gradually falling heavier until his clothes were all soaked through. There was no soul in sight either. A good thing— it meant people were being careful, and not risking their safety for whatever reason. Satisfied that he'd done all he could for the night, he whistled for John to follow him as he turned towards the guard.
But the dog didn't obey. Jim frowned, confused at first, and then concerned, watching as John faced away from him, ears spiked in the air, tail still. Suddenly and without warning, he barked once and ran off at an incredible speed, and Jim struggled to catch up for those first few seconds. ]
John! Stay! [ The dog clearly wasn't listening to him, though. Soon enough, Jim realized why. As the screaming reached his ears, his concern shifted from his dog to whoever was in trouble, and that concern only increased tenfold when he realized who it was. ]
Lucy! [ Jim could feel something practically grip at his insides when he saw the huge monster right behind her. He picked up his pace considerably, sprinting right past John and Lucy, and straight towards the creature. ] Go hide!!
[ The dog had planted himself between Lucy and the source of danger in the meantime, trying to get her to run to safety instead. ]
